What is a janam kundli?

A kundli (also spelled kundali or kundli) is the Vedic birth chart used in Indian astrology. It shows the 12 houses of life (self, money, family, home, children, health, marriage, longevity, luck, career, gains and losses) and which of the 9 grahas sat in each house when you were born.

From the same chart an astrologer reads your Lagna (ascendant), Moon sign (rashi), nakshatra, yogas and doshas, and the running Vimshottari dasha, which shows which planet's period you are in right now.

What you need to make your kundli

Don't know your birth time? You can still get a useful reading from your Moon sign, nakshatra and planet positions. Jyotish Baba tells you which parts are approximate.

How Jyotish Baba makes and explains your kundli

The planet positions are calculated by an astronomy engine using the sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa, whole-sign houses and Vimshottari dasha, the method traditional jyotish uses. Nothing is guessed.

Instead of handing you a confusing chart, Jyotish Baba lets you simply ask: Mera career kaisa rahega?, Meri shaadi kab hogi?, Is this year good for business? Each answer names the planets that matter, what they do, and what it means for your life, in plain Hindi, Hinglish or English.
